FREE CONCERT IN THE SPIRIT ROOM:
Jan started playing trumpet the summer before 5th grade. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to study music and business. He worked his way up to play in the Grammy Nominated Jazz Ensemble 1 at UW-Eau Claire and was lucky enough to share the stage with saxophonist Grace Kelly and the New York Voices in 2018. He currently serves part time in the 132nd Army National Guard Band, and is a Wedding DJ.
In June of 2019, Jan ventured into open waters to play for Norwegian Cruise Lines. He performed with world class musicians from many different countries and guest entertainers including Antonio Solci, Aaron Show, and Lovena Fox, to name a few. The band played three production shows, ballroom/big band sets, and small group jazz/latin sets on each cruise, performing six nights a week.
While still in college, Jan played with countless small group ensembles of every style, locally and in the Twin Cities. This naturally opened the door to many other performing and recording opportunities.
He also spent two summers performing with Wisconsin’s Music Ambassadors, the Kids From Wisconsin (KFW) and one summer as band coach/conductor under Taras Nahirniak, the producer and arranger for the KFW. During this time Jan especially enjoyed the Kids outreach program called, “Realize Your Dream,” where the band and singers had workshops at around Wisconsin. They taught students aged 5-15 how to dance, play basic percussion instruments, and even write music with basic music theory skills learned in the workshop. This is where he realized his passion for connecting with younger people through music!
He is co-founder of “Uncommon Denominator,” a band named Best Cover Band in the Chippewa Valley 3 years in a row and continues to produce his own music as Janny Trumpet.
As a wedding DJ he strives to create an unforgettable night for the couple and their guests. As a trumpet playing wedding DJ, he also works with his wife’s business called Uncommon Events LLC.
Jan continues to pursue musical projects of any kind, including recording, producing, and writing.
